Honor Kathy Sharp’s 36 Years of Service to the Missouri School of Journalism

After 36 years of dedicated service, Kathy Sharp will retire this June from the Missouri School of Journalism. For more than three decades, Kathy has been a constant, trusted presence—supporting students, faculty, and staff with professionalism, care, and a deep commitment to the J‑School community.

To recognize Kathy’s lasting impact, we are raising funds for a tribute bench outside the Journalism Arch, a meaningful and highly visible location where students, alumni, and visitors gather every day. This bench will serve as a permanent reminder of Kathy’s contributions and the many lives she has touched during her career.

Our goal is $5,000, which will cover the bench, installation, and a bronze plaque recognizing Kathy’s service.

We hope to raise the full $5,000 needed to dedicate a bench outside the J-School Arch. If we do not reach this goal, funds will be used to dedicate a tribute tree nearby. Any additional funds raised over the goal will support care and maintenance of the bench and the Mizzou Botanic Garden.
