Chancellors Report 2008-09
Mizzou celebrates $123 million in gifts this year
Nov. 3, 2009
Giving to Mizzou remained strong in 2008-09, despite challenges posed by the economy. Donors gave a total of $123 million, making the year the fifth most successful in the history of fundraising at Mizzou. The fiscal year included the final six months of the For All We Call Mizzou campaign, which resulted in $1.04 billion in donations from 2000-08. Just 23 public universities have completed campaigns of this size.
“Raising $1 billion provides much-needed resources to help us serve students, the state and world,” Chancellor Brady Deaton says. While we celebrate this achievement, we continue to seek additional gifts to support students and faculty in this difficult economic climate. We’re grateful for the generous gifts individuals have made since the campaign ended.”
Alumni, friends, faculty, staff, students, parents, corporations and foundations all give to the university. Last year, 23 donors gave more than $1 million and 38,000 gave $1,000 or less. Gifts of all sizes combine to create opportunities at Mizzou. This year’s Chancellor’s Report illustrates the variety of gifts that make Mizzou a leader in securing private support.
