University of Missouri Extension

University of Missouri Extension opens the door to research-based knowledge for people of all ages and from all walks of life. Each year more than 1 million Missourians use MU Extension through its unique blend of community-based people and centers and online information and education.

MU Extension delivers the University’s land-grant mission in every county of the state. Its educational offerings reach diverse audiences, both urban and rural, with information and training that makes Missouri a better place to live and work.

Because of MU Extension, earning a degree or taking a class is now an option for many who otherwise could not pursue higher education. Through online courses, programs such as MU Direct: Continuing and Distance Education, and the Center for Distance and Independent Study expand access to lifelong education and professional development.

On and off campus, MU Extension and its specialists serve families, industry, business professionals and community leaders. For example, MU Extension specialists:

  • Provide answers, programs and publications on health, nutrition, personal finance, child rearing, community development, agriculture, natural resources, business, careers and emergency management.
  • Train fire-and-rescue volunteers, master gardeners and wine makers.
  • Offer life skills to more than 100,000 children ages 5 to 18 involved in 4-H.

Your support goes a long way toward supplementing government funding, which only partially covers the costs of programs needed throughout the state. Thanks to friends’ gifts, large and small, along with the grassroots support of extension council members, volunteers and many other partners, MU Extension is able to accomplish great things despite tight budgets and growing demands.

Knowledge is a gift. Help us keep the doors to knowledge open wide.
