University of Missouri Extension
University of Missouri Extension opens the doors to research-based knowledge for people of all ages and from all walks of life. Each year more than 1 million Missourians use MU Extension’s community-based centers and online-education resources.
MU Extension fulfills the university’s land-grant mission in every county of the state. Its educational offerings reach diverse audiences, both urban and rural, with information and training to make Missouri a better place to live and work. Programs such as MU Direct and the Center for Distance and Independent Study expand access to lifelong education and professional development.
On and off campus, MU Extension serves families, business professionals and community leaders. Extension specialists train fire-and-rescue volunteers, master gardeners and wine makers. They teach life skills to more than 100,000 children in 4-H. They also provide programs and publications about health, nutrition, personal finance, child rearing, community development, agriculture, natural resources, business, career skills and emergency management.
Thanks to friends’ gifts and the grassroots support of the extension council and volunteers, MU Extension is able to accomplish great things despite tight budgets and growing demands.
Knowledge is a gift. This is the time to keep the doors to education open wide.
