Mizzou faculty influence lives, nurture knowledge and forge new frontiers in research. They inform and shape values; they impart wisdom gleaned from the past and explore the unseen and unknown. Their abilities are directly proportionate to student opportunities, motivation and success.
Competitive salaries allow Mizzou to attract and retain globally recognized faculty to maintain our status as a destination university. Enhanced salaries encourage faculty to engage in research and entrepreneurial activities. The Faculty Fellows program, for example, recognizes faculty who teach honors courses or mentor undergraduate researchers, and rewards participation in service learning, community outreach and student life.
Endowed positions also provide an excellent return on investment: Faculty in endowed chairs attracted $150 million in research funds to Mizzou from 2000 to 2005.
